Positioned right over the border along I-77 in York County, Fort Mill was established in 1873. After the establishment of the Fort Mill Manufacturing Company, For Mill expanded into a major center for textile manufacturing. Since that time, the town has continued to grow and diversify and is currently home to companies such as Black and Decker, Comporium, Daimler Trucks North America, Muzak, URS and Wells Fargo. Residents are never lacking for thrills with Carowinds Amusement park located in their neighborhood. Despite its long standing history, there is a lot of new home construction in Fort Mill which balances the beautiful historic buildings found in the down town area. Baxter Village is a popular community within Fort Mill that offers housing, office space, restaurants, retailers and parks with the air of Southern Hospitality that comes to mind when you think of South Carolina.
